The First Londonist Camp!
From 10th to 12th of January, our London, Istanbul and Shanghai teams joined forces in the snowy slopes of Kartepe and all together we achieved a perfect combination of business and pleasure.
On Friday, the London and Shanghai teams received a warm welcome by the Turkey team and our CEO, both at the airport and at the Green Park Kartepe Resort. Our first night together found us celebrating with drinks and traditional Turkish food around fires in the snow.
On Saturday, we started bright and early with a full agenda ahead of us. First thing in the morning, the amazing No Fluff team got us energised and excited with a series of engaging team building activities. In Londonist, we believe that great things are achieved by a great team and is there a better way to make a team great than enjoyable team building activities? Speed dating and group games brought us closer, helped us build trust and taught us valuable lessons about fruitful communication.
With our team spirit boosted, we had a highly productive presentation session during which our marketing, sales, operations and finance departments introduced their teams and presented their year-end review. Each department assessed their performance for the previous year, highlighting their greatest achievements and challenges and how these affected growth. The company’s performance was measured in terms of financial statements, new customer growth, website and social media analytics and expansion to new markets.
After reviewing the past, the inspirational speech by our visionary CEO and leader, Mr Erturk brought us to the future. An exciting year full of opportunities awaits our company, but Londonist is not just a company. We are a big family and it is exactly this culture that motivates us to achieve great success as Mr Erturk pointed out and closed the session inviting us for some fun in the snow. We put on our winter boots enthusiastically and we took together the cable car that brought us to the highest point of the black ski slope, the ideal spot for shooting some spectacular group photos before the sunset.
We returned to the resort just in time for a glorious family dinner where we welcomed our new members and gave awards to those with a distinctive presence and contribution to the office everyday life. Our party continued in an electric atmosphere at the top floor bar with live music and dancing. At the end of the day, we learned that there’s no better way to understand our colleagues than to hit the dance floor together! On Sunday, we redirected our energy to the list of long term and short term goals for 2020. After a brainstorming session, we set milestones and we drafted a detailed agenda of events, campaigns and team meetings. In the evening, we said goodbye in an emotional charged atmosphere and we parted admitting that Londonist Camp 0.1 exceeded our expectations in every way. It raised the bar higher and we will definitely keep the excitement going with more events like this in the future.
With moments of great laughter and fun, a sense of accomplishment for the past and excitement for the future and lots of memorable Instagram posts, we definitely had a weekend to remember!
